Your privacy at Sakinah

1. Introduction

Sakinah is a Muslim community app for daily Islamic practice and grief support — guiding Singapore families through loss with prayer, ritual guides, and connections to trusted providers. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data we collect

We only collect data necessary to provide the service:

• Account info: phone number or email (for sign-in via Supabase Auth)
• Deceased records: name, date of passing, gender, burial location — provided by you voluntarily
• Memorial activity: dua recitations and takziah messages sent by visitors
• Grave records: cemetery, block, lot, photos, and GPS coordinates if you provide them
• Bookmarks and visit logs: your personal grave-visit records

3. How we use your data

• To provide app features (guides, dua, connecting you to providers)
• To send push notifications about memorial activity and malam tahlil reminders (if you opt in)
• To improve our service through aggregate, anonymous usage analysis

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We don't share your data with third parties except:

• Public memorial pages: When you generate a memorial link (e.g. sakinah.sg/al/...), basic deceased info becomes public so visitors can send dua
• Dua and recitation counts: Displayed in aggregate only (no individual names) on memorial pages
• Legal compliance: If required by Singapore law

5. Data storage

Your data is stored in a Supabase database in the Singapore region (ap-southeast-1). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We retain data while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.

6. Your rights

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Edit your information directly in the app
• Deletion: Request removal of your account and data
• Export: Request your data in a machine-readable format

7. Children

Sakinah is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Push notifications

You may receive notifications about malam tahlil, memorial activity, ziarah reminders, and daily prayer times. You can disable these at any time in your phone's settings.
